Chief Minister reviewed the works of Urban Administration Department

Instructions given to implement Atal Vishwas Patra on priority, cleanliness ranking of all cities should improve

Raipur. 28 April 2025- Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today reviewed the works of Urban Administration and Development Department. He reviewed the progress of major works being done by the department in a meeting held at the Ministry. He discussed the priorities of the current financial year and also inquired about the implementation of the schemes of the Central and State Government run by the department at the field level. Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Arun Saw and Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain also attended the review meeting. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai directed the officials in the meeting to prepare an action plan to ensure water supply in the cities as per the need of the next ten years and work on them. He asked to build gardens on priority in the new residential areas being developed in the outskirts of the cities, so that children can play and the elderly can have access to walking, jogging, yoga and physical exercise as well as recreational space. The Chief Minister directed to implement the Atal Vishwas Patra in all the urban bodies on priority. He asked to improve the cleanliness system in all the cities and improve their current ranking of cleanliness issued by the Government of India. Along with increasing public participation to make the cities beautiful and clean, he asked to send the commissioners of municipal corporations to cities with better cleanliness system like Indore for study.

While reviewing the works of the Urban Administration Department, Chief Minister Sai asked to develop basic urban facilities in coordination with other departments in the rural areas adjacent to the urban population. This will help in developing systems and public facilities according to the cities in the near future when the adjacent rural areas join the urban body or come into existence as a new urban body. The Chief Minister, while emphasizing on completing the work within the time limit with quality in construction works, suggested to create a reward system for the bodies completing the work within the stipulated time period. He asked to prepare an app or online system for effective monitoring of the progress of construction and development works. The Chief Minister emphasized on developing an online system for the collection of property tax in other urban bodies like Raipur Municipal Corporation. With this, people will be able to pay property tax from home or from their workplace through mobile or computer, which will increase revenue collection. He directed to prepare a system for online payment of property tax in all the bodies in the next one year. The Chief Minister asked to link the system of making documents at home under the Mor Sangwari scheme with the Digi-Locker of the Central Government. With this, the documents of the citizens will be permanently safe in their Digi-Locker. This will also reduce the expenditure of running the scheme.

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Arun Saw told in the meeting that the inspection of cleanliness and development works by the Commissioners of Municipal Corporations and Chief Municipal Officers of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats along with the officials of the body every morning is giving good results. With this, along with tightening the work of the department, the progress of construction works and cleanliness is being regularly monitored. In all urban bodies, the process of revision of set-up and classification of bodies is being carried out according to the current needs. Chief Minister Nagarothan Yojana is being started this year to speed up urban development according to major development works, requirements of cities and future needs. A provision of Rs 500 crore has been made for this. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai reviewed the infrastructure item in urban bodies, progress of works under construction under 15th Finance Commission and state-sponsored schemes and the works of SUDA (State Urban Development Agency) in the meeting. He also reviewed the progress of Atal complexes and Nalanda complexes being built in various bodies along with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), PM Swanidhi, Amrit Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister P. Dayanand, Rahul Bhagat, Dr. Basavaraju S., Director R. Ekka, Deputy Secretary Dr. Renuka Srivastava and CEO of SUDA Shashank Pandey were also present in the review meeting.
