Who Will Be The New DGP Of CG: State Government Sent A Panel Of 3 Names To UPSC

Raipur. The Chhattisgarh government has sent a panel of three names for the new DGP to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). These include 92 batch IPS Pawandev and Arundev Gautam and 94 batch IPS Himanshu Gupta. However, there were five names in the note sheet. The names of IPS SRP Kalluri and IPS Pradeep Gupta were also proposed. But later a panel of three names was finalized. The main qualification for DGP is that the IPS should have 30 years of service. That too according to the retirement date of the DGP. Ashok Juneja is retiring on 5 February 2025. After Juneja, Pawandev of 92 batch is the most senior in the seniority, then Arundev Gautam. After this, Himanshu Gupta, GP Singh and SRP Kalluri are in the 94 batch. Out of these, GP Singh’s service has ended. 95 batch IPS Pradeep Gupta will also complete 30 years of service in January next month. That means even Pradeep has become eligible to be included in the panel. But the state government has the right to decide whose name to send in the panel and whose not. UPSC has the right to increase or return the panel However, if UPSC is not satisfied with the names of the panel, then it has the right to add the names of more officers with 30 years of service as per the gradation list or return the panel to the state government to prepare and send it again. However, this is not expected in the case of Chhattisgarh because the panel contains names that are qualified to become DGP. The possibility of UPSC’s objection is more when the names of junior officers are added to the panel by overlooking senior officers.

Now there will be DPC in UPSC After the state government sends the panel of names to UPSC, now the date of DPC will be decided. The panel of DGP is finalized in DPC only. DPC prepares the panel after looking at the entire horoscope of the officers. Who are in DPC UPSC’s DPC is held to finalize the panel of DGP. UPSC chairman is specially present in it. If he is unable to come due to any adverse circumstances, then a member of UPSC is included in his place. Apart from this, a nominee of the Ministry of Home, Government of India, such as an officer of Joint Secretary level. Chief Secretary of the concerned state, ACS Home and current DGP. A DGP rank officer of the central paramilitary force is also included in the committee. All of them together prepare the panel on the basis of merits and demerits. UPSC to MHA After the panel is finalized by UPSC, the file is then sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs for approval. MHA then sends the panel to the state government. From this panel, the state government has the right to appoint DGP by ticking any one name as per its choice. Finalization before 5 February
The entire process has to be completed before 5 February. Since the process from DPC to MHA takes time, UPSC calls for the panel three months in advance. But there has been a delay in sending the panel from Chhattisgarh. As per three months, the panel was to be sent by November 5. There has been a delay of about a month. For this, from UPSC to MHA, everyone will have to work on it on priority. Because, before February 5, the state government will have to decide who is to be made the new DGP from the panel received from UPSC. The tenure of DGP Ashok Juneja will end on February 5, 2025. CM Vishnudev Sai will have to announce the name of the new DGP before this. That is, by the evening of February 5, the order for the new head of Chhattisgarh Police will be issued.
