Chief Minister Sai’s sensitive initiative: Provided financial assistance of ₹1.70 lakh for participation in Asia Youth Softball Championship
Raipur 22 June 2025: Chhattisgarh’s daughter and softball player Shalu Dahriya, who has represented the state 12 times at the national level, had a wave of smile on her face when Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai himself not only wished her through a video call, but also provided the necessary financial help to fulfill her dream. Shalu Dahriya has been selected in the Indian team for the Asia Youth Softball Championship to be held in Xian, China from 14 to 20 July 2025. Only two women players have been selected for this open tournament from Chhattisgarh, including Shalu Dahriya. But the fee of ₹ 1.70 lakh required for participation in this international tournament became a big obstacle for her. Coming from a financially simple family, Shalu’s father is a private security guard and mother runs a small beauty parlor. Despite this, Shalu started playing softball from the eighth grade and has so far represented the state at the national level 12 times including a gold medal.
Chief Minister Sai called Shalu Dahriya on a video call and said, “Daughter, you go ahead … we are all with you. Chhattisgarh is proud of you. Play well, my best wishes are with you. Bring glory to the country and the state.” The Chief Minister also said that the state government not only encourages daughters, but is also always ready to give wings to their dreams when needed. This initiative became an example of sensitivity. Acting promptly on the guidelines of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Janjgir Champa Collector Janmejay Mahobe handed over a cheque of assistance amount of ₹ 1.70 lakh to Shalu and wished her good luck for the competition. Shalu’s mother Alka Dahriya expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Sai and said that due to the sensitive initiative and financial assistance of the Chief Minister, my daughter is getting a good opportunity to participate in international competition. This initiative of Chief Minister Sai shows that the government is not limited to just announcing schemes, it is a partner who holds hands in times of need. The state government is committed to making the dreams of daughters come true.
