Home electricity bill became zero, supplying electricity to the government as well
Raipur, 08 August 2025: Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana has illuminated many houses through solar energy. Shashank Dubey, a resident of Bilaspur district, has installed a complete solar power plant on the roof of his house. Not only is his house being illuminated by this solar energy powered plant, but his electricity bill has also become zero now. Not only this, Dubey is now supplying electricity to the government as well. Dubey told that ever since he has installed solar panels on the roof of his house, the electricity bill of his house has become completely zero. The electricity generation on the roof through solar panels is completely saving his monthly electricity expenditure. He told that a solar panel of five kilowatt capacity is installed on his roof, due to which he no longer has to worry about the monthly electricity bill, as well as he is also supplying electricity as a producer. After installing solar panels, the electricity bill of his house has completely ended.
Dubey said that it cost him about two lakh rupees to install five kilowatt solar panels, in which he has received a subsidy of ₹78,000 from the central government, and an additional subsidy of ₹30,000 will also be received from the state government soon. He said that under this scheme, investment has to be made only once, after which uninterrupted power supply is available for 25 years. To avail the benefits of the scheme, consumers can register through pmsuryaghar.gov.in portal or PM Suryaghar app. This scheme proves to be very economical from a long term point of view, in which banks also provide loan facility at low interest rate.
Dubey also said that once the solar panel is installed, there is no regular maintenance cost on it, and the company installing the solar panel provides free servicing facility for five years. He said that this scheme is also very useful from the point of view of environmental protection. By using solar energy, they are participating in the production of clean (green) energy, which is promoting renewable energy.
Dubey appealed to the citizens to adopt this scheme, use solar energy and become self-reliant in the field of electricity. Also, make an active contribution in environmental promotion. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, the state government is encouraging domestic electricity consumers of urban and rural areas to install rooftop solar plants on the roofs of their houses. This plant connects to the electricity grid through net metering, so that the consumer can send the electricity generated in excess of his requirement to the grid. This not only makes the consumer’s home electricity bill zero, but they also get income in exchange for the excess electricity given to the grid. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, free electricity up to 300 units per month is being provided. This scheme will provide consumers with more income, minimum electricity bills and new employment opportunities. Also, public awareness towards renewable energy sources will also increase.
