Solar panels started lighting up homes, saving electricity bills too
Raipur 28 February 2025: Seeing the savings in electricity bills every month by installing solar panels, now solar panels are being installed in homes in Chhattisgarh too under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. According to CREDA officials, so far about two and a half lakh people in the state have registered online in the portal of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, out of which about 40 thousand people have also applied for installing solar panels in their homes. Out of these, solar panels have been installed in the homes of more than one thousand people. Due to this, electricity has also started being produced in their homes, due to which there is a good saving in electricity bill every month. This is the reason that people’s thinking about solar panels has also become positive, due to which the number of people registering in the portal is also increasing continuously.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Free Electricity Scheme, by installing a 3 kW solar panel, consumers are generating 360 units of electricity at home every month. Due to which there is a saving of up to Rs 20 thousand in the electricity bill. To avail the benefits of this scheme, applications are being made from many districts of the state including Raipur. These include Naxal-affected districts like Mohla-Manpur, Sukma, Narayanpur. Bank loan with subsidy Under this scheme, consumers are being given discounts in the form of subsidy on installing solar panels. The consumer is getting a loan of two lakh rupees and a subsidy of thousand rupees from the bank. The life of a solar panel is 25 years. In this way, the consumer will save Rs 4 lakh 21 thousand 200 by installing solar panels. Target to install solar panels in about 1.5 lakh houses in two years According to CREDA, under this scheme, a target has been set to install solar panels in about 1.5 lakh houses in the state in two years. Officials in the districts have been directed to achieve this target. Under this, people are also being made aware about the benefits of solar panels.
