Chief Minister Sai said – India-UK FTA will open global market for farmers, weavers and youth
Raipur, 26 July 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has described the free trade agreement between India and the United Kingdom (UK) as a new chapter in India’s development journey and expressed gratitude to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Minister Sai said that this agreement will not only expand India’s economic horizons, but especially states which are based on agriculture, crafts, small and cottage industries – like Chhattisgarh – will provide them a historic opportunity to become a part of global trade. Chief Minister Sai said that India-UK FTA will give duty-free access to Britain to 99% of India’s export products. This will directly benefit farmers, MSMEs, handicraftsmen, weavers and traditional products. This agreement will open new trade opportunities worth an estimated $23 billion dollars. Chief Minister Sai said that this historic step has brought a new hope for agriculture and labor-dominated states like Chhattisgarh. He expressed confidence that this agreement will give strength to agriculture, support to industry and new employment opportunities to the youth of Chhattisgarh. He said that the state government is working on establishing special training, quality control and export assistance centers to prepare local producers as per global standards. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this achievement and said that this is a proof of his visionary leadership, economic reforms and commitment to take ‘Vocal for Local’ to the global level.
