10.20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers and 7.22 lakh quintals of certified seeds distributed to farmers

Raipur, 22 July 2025: Farming work is going on in full swing in the state. So far, various crops including paddy, maize, kodo, kutki, tur, moong, peanuts, ramtil have been sown in 36.42 lakh hectare area in the state, which is 75 percent of the target. In this Kharif season, the state government has set a target of sowing in 48.85 lakh hectare area. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has directed the concerned officials to provide all necessary support to provide facilities to farmers in farming. He has also asked to distribute certified fertilizers and seeds to the farmers with ease as per their demand. Under the guidance of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, these are being continuously monitored by the officials of the Agriculture Department. So far, 10.20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers and 7.22 lakh quintals of certified seeds have been distributed to the farmers of the state. As of 21 July 2025, an average rainfall of 446.1 mm has been recorded in the state so far, while the average annual rainfall of the state is 1238.7 mm.

Agriculture department officials said that a target of distributing 4.95 lakh quintals of certified seeds has been set in the state for Kharif 2025 this year, in which 7.88 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored from all sources and 7.22 lakh quintals of seeds have been distributed to the farmers so far, which is 146 percent of the demand. Whereas in Kharif year 2024, 4.64 lakh quintals of certified seeds were distributed from the Seed Corporation in the state. Similarly, a target of distributing 14.62 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers has been set in the state this Kharif season. Against the said target, 13.78 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been stored in the cooperative and private sectors. Against the said storage, 10.20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been distributed to the farmers, which is 70 percent of the target. Agriculture department officials said that instructions have also been given to take strict action on any kind of irregularity in the fertilizer-seed distribution system. Besides this, the societies have been asked to store sufficient quantity of fertilisers and seeds and keep constant monitoring.
