Raipur. 15 November 2024: Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao will launch the state-wide beneficiary survey of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 for the urban homeless of the state. He will launch it in a program organized at Swami Atmanand School in Mungeli at 2.30 pm on November 15. Sao will formally launch it in Chhattisgarh by symbolically filling the survey form of the beneficiaries present in the program.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has provided housing facilities to homeless beneficiaries in the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Such beneficiaries who could not get housing facilities in the first phase, and who are still deprived of housing facilities, will be identified through survey in the second phase [Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0] and the process of applying for housing and providing housing will be initiated. With the increase in population in the cities of the state, the demand for housing is also increasing continuously. Through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, financial assistance will be provided to EWS, LIG and MIG families to fulfill their dream of their first pucca house, so that they can live a respectable life as well as fulfill their dream of owning a house.
49,834 houses completed in last 11 months
In the good governance of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the Urban Administration and Development Department has completed the construction of 49 thousand 834 houses in the last 11 months under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). In the state, 38 thousand 097 houses have been approved under the Affordable Housing Project (AHP) in partnership with the scheme and two lakh 11 thousand 069 houses under the beneficiary’s self-construction housing (BLC), that is, a total of two lakh 49 thousand 166 houses. After the formation of the present government, in the last 11 months, giving priority to the works of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), 5415 houses have been completed under the AHP component, taking a total of 21 thousand 600 houses to completion. At the same time, 44 thousand 419 houses have been completed under the BLC component, taking a total of one lakh 74 thousand 967 houses to completion.
Three income groups have been included in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0
To provide housing to the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, the scheme has been divided into four categories beneficiary based construction, affordable housing in partnership, affordable rental housing and interest subsidy scheme. The Government of India has expanded the scope of the scheme and included beneficiaries of three income groups in it. Economically weaker section (EWS) with annual family income up to three lakh rupees, lower income group (LIG) with annual family income up to six lakh rupees and middle income group (MIG) with annual family income up to nine lakh rupees will also be provided the benefit of the scheme.
Eligibility under the scheme
To avail the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, a beneficiary family includes husband, wife, unmarried sons and unmarried daughters. The beneficiary family should not have any pucca house anywhere in the country. Aadhar card / virtual Aadhaar of all the members of the family is mandatory to avail the benefits of the scheme. The applicant / beneficiary family can avail the benefit of only one scheme out of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) or Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. The beneficiary family of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 must be a resident of the local body area before 31 August 2024.
The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has simplified the process of applying for housing for the convenience of the beneficiaries. The housing application can be easily filed online by the beneficiary himself on the official portal of the Government of India. Along with this, the application process can also be completed through the helpdesk in all the 189 notified urban bodies of the state.
