On Utkal Diwas, the historical inspiration of the establishment of Odisha state was paid homage
Raipur, 01 April 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today garlanded the statue of great freedom fighter Barrister Madhusudan Das at Mahila Thana Chowk (Madhusudan Das Chowk) in the capital Raipur on the occasion of Utkal Diwas and paid his respects to him. Chief Minister Sai extended his best wishes to Utkal Samaj and the people of Odisha Chief Minister Sai extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the brothers of Utkal Samaj living in the state and across the country on Odisha State Foundation Day (Utkal Diwas). He said that this day is not only a celebration of the formation of Odisha, but is an inspiration of struggle, self-esteem and cultural unity. The Chief Minister said that a large number of people of Utkal Samaj reside in Chhattisgarh, who strengthen the social harmony and diversity of the state.
Saluting the contribution of Barrister Madhusudan Das, Chief Minister Sai said that the state of Odisha was formed on 1 April 1936 due to the struggles of a visionary and dedicated personality like Barrister Madhusudan Das. Chief Minister Sai said that Chhattisgarh and Odisha have had cultural and social ties for centuries. He informed that the rice offered to Lord Jagannath still comes from Chhattisgarh. Especially the rice of Devbhog area, which is used as Prasad to the Lord, is a symbol of the religious connection of both the states. Praying for the welfare of the people of the state from Lord Jagannath, Chief Minister Sai prayed to Lord Jagannath for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the people of Chhattisgarh. He said that the blessings of Lord Jagannath will always remain on Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, MLA Kiran Dev, MLA Purandar Mishra, MLA Sunil Soni, Mayor Mrs. Meenal Choubey, Chairman Suryakant Rathore, Sanjay Shrivastava, members of Utkal Samaj and a large number of dignitaries were present.
