Clean and green transport will get a boost in the field of logistics
Raipur, May 10, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today flagged off the country’s first hydrogen fuel logistics truck from his residence in the capital. He handed over the keys to the driver of the hydrogen truck with his signature and congratulated CSPGCL and Adani Natural Resources for this innovative initiative. He said that this initiative will be a revolutionary step to move Chhattisgarh and the country towards green energy. The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is continuously developing and a new dimension has been added to it today. India’s first hydrogen fueled logistics truck is being launched in Chhattisgarh. He said that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special focus on promoting green energy and this initiative is important in the direction of achieving the resolution he has taken to make India a zero carbon emission country by the year 2070. This step will also help in balancing environmental protection and industrial development. Sai said that Chhattisgarh is a mineral-rich state and the use of this truck in mineral transportation will reduce carbon emissions. He said that along with traditional resources, green technology and innovation are also being given priority in the state. Sai said that development and environmental protection are possible together and such initiatives will further strengthen our resolve. On this occasion, Dr. Vinay Prakash, CEO of Natural Resources of Adani Enterprises also shared his views and called this initiative a milestone for sustainable development in the mining sector. Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Seed Development Corporation Chandrahas Chandrakar, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited Sanjeev Katiyar and representatives of Adani Group were present in the program. Use of hydrogen fuel will promote green energy Hydrogen is an element found in abundance and most importantly, it does not emit any kind of harmful emissions. Vehicles running on hydrogen fuel cells have the same distance and load carrying capacity as diesel trucks. But instead of smoke, they emit only water vapor and hot air and also make very little noise. Since most of the machines in the mining sector run mainly on diesel, adopting clean fuels will help reduce pollution and noise. Along with this, this step will also help in reducing India’s dependence on crude oil and reducing carbon footprint. The special thing is that Adani Natural Resources is the first company in Asia to adopt ‘dozer push semi-autonomous technology’, which is promoting both safety and stability.
It is worth noting that this truck has been prepared with Indian and international technical partnership and hydrogen will be used as fuel in it. Under this, hydrogen fuel cell battery-powered trucks are being developed for cargo transportation. Each truck will be equipped with smart technology and three hydrogen tanks, which will have the capacity to carry up to 40 tonnes of goods up to a distance of 200 kilometers. This is a joint effort by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited and Adani Natural Resources with the aim of securing a green future in the state. It will be used by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited to transport coal from Gare Palma-3 coal block in Raigarh district to the power generation units of the state.
