E-way bill limit increased to ₹ 1 lakh, VAT on petrol reduced by ₹ 1 per liter

Raipur 1 April 2025: The Chhattisgarh government led by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has implemented two important decisions to provide relief to small traders and middle class families of the state, which have come into effect from 1 April 2025. These decisions were included in the budget for the year 2025-26 under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and the guidelines of Finance Minister OP Choudhary. Increase in e-way bill limit: Now goods worth up to ₹ 1 lakh will be transported without e-way bill. The state government led by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has increased the limit of mandatory e-way bill for transport of goods within Chhattisgarh from ₹ 50,000 to ₹ 1 lakh. This decision has been taken especially with the aim of providing relief to small traders. With this decision, traders will no longer need e-way bill in the transportation of goods worth up to ₹ 1 lakh. This decision will exempt about 26% of the traders who generate e-way bills in the state from generating e-way bills. This decision will reduce e-way bill generation by 54 percent, which will significantly reduce compliance expenses. However, this exemption will not apply to certain special items like pan masala, tobacco products, specific wood products like plywood, laminated sheets, particle board, fiber board, iron, steel and its accessories, coal.

This decision has been taken on the long-standing demand of traders for exemption in e-way bill, which is a big initiative towards making business smooth and cost-effective. Reduction of ₹ 1 per liter in VAT on petrol: Direct relief to middle class families The state government has reduced the amount of VAT on petrol by ₹ 1 per liter from April 1, 2025. This decision will directly reduce the prices of petrol, which will especially benefit the middle class and lower middle class families. The number of two-wheeler users in Chhattisgarh is high, who are mainly dependent on petrol. This reduction in VAT will prove to be helpful in reducing the daily costs of these families. This decision has also been implemented keeping in mind the current economic situation under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and in line with the announcement made in the budget for the year 2025-26 by Finance Minister O P Choudhary. Government’s commitment: Ease, convenience and sensitivity Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government, while understanding the problems of the people of the state, is continuously taking such decisions which are meaningful, in public interest and full of foresight. These decisions to provide convenience to the business class and relief to the general public will prove to be an important factor in accelerating the economic development of the state.
