Raipur. The Vishnudev Baghel government has withdrawn the ban imposed on the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the state of Chhattisgarh about five years ago. Now CBI will be able to investigate in the state like before. The Home Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh has withdrawn with immediate effect the departmental letter sent to the Central Government on January 10, 2019 regarding the jurisdiction for investigation and research by the CBI in the state.
It is noteworthy that as soon as BJP assumed power, in the cabinet meeting held on January 3, 2024, it had recommended CBI to investigate the irregularities in PSC 2021-22. After about a month, the state government also lodged an FIR in the EOW ACB regarding this. Since now the ban on CBI has been lifted in the state, CBI can threaten Chhattisgarh anytime.
