Cabinet decision: Women will now get Rs 12 thousand annually, tendu leaf collectors Rs 5500

A meeting of the Council of Ministers was held today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai.

The following important decisions were taken in the meeting –

In the meeting of the Council of Ministers, fulfilling another guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a big and important decision was taken in the interest of tendu leaf collecting families of the state. Under which the collection remuneration to tendu leaf collectors will now be increased from Rs 4000 per standard bag to Rs 5500 per standard bag.
The Council of Ministers has decided to run a new scheme for social security of tendu leaf collectors. For the operation of this new scheme, 75 percent amount will be provided by the government and 25 percent amount will be provided by Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association as financial grant.

Fulfilling another guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Council of Ministers has decided to implement Mahtari Vandan Yojana in the state. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month i.e. Rs 12,000 per year will be given to married women directly in their bank accounts through DBT.
The objective of this scheme is to eliminate discrimination against women in the society due to gender discrimination, inequality and lack of awareness among women in the state and also to improve their health and nutrition level. This scheme will also promote women empowerment and economic self-reliance. The benefit of this scheme will be available to married women resident of Chhattisgarh, whose age is more than 21 years as on January 1, 2024. Apart from married women, widowed, divorced, abandoned women are also eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme.

It was decided to cancel and undo the amendments made in the Chhattisgarh Civil Service (Contract Appointment) Rules, 2012 in the notification issued by the previous government in August 2023. In August 2023, the said rule was amended that after departmental inquiry, if the penalty becomes effective or if punished by the court in a criminal case, they will be ineligible for contractual appointment. With this amendment, such retired government servants against whom departmental investigation or prosecution case is pending or prevalent were also becoming eligible for contractual appointment. Considering this as not appropriate, the Council of Ministers has decided to cancel it and leave the provision of Contract Rules 2012 as it is.

The Council of Ministers decided to implement Bharat (BH) series vehicle registration in the state of Chhattisgarh. Under the BH series implemented by the Government of India, two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles will have to pay tax for two years at one go.

The draft of Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill-2024 was approved.
