Bag With Woman’s Severed Head Found By Children Fishing In Korba

Korba: Near the old filter plant at Pump House, children fishing in the canal came across a floating bag. Upon opening it, they discovered the severed head and hand of an unidentified woman. The police were informed and are now working on identifying the victim after completing legal formalities. Discovery of the Bag The incident took place near the filter plant located between the river and canal at Pump House Colony, under the jurisdiction of CSEB police outpost. Currently, water is being released into the canal, attracting children to fish and play in the area. On Monday evening, some children noticed a bag floating in the canal. Out of curiosity, they pulled it out and opened it. Inside, they found a severed head, a wrist, and a hand wrapped in a cloth, possibly part of a black and maroon mattress cover.

Panic in the Area The bag also contained a pink top and a salwar, which added to the gruesome discovery. Shocked and scared, the children informed their families, leading to a gathering of people at the site. Someone from the crowd informed the CSEB police outpost. Soon, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) UBS Chauhan, along with the forensic team, arrived at the scene. The severed head was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is ongoing. Efforts to Identify the Woman ASP Chauhan shared that the police are working to identify the woman and are checking if any missing person reports have been filed in the nearby areas. Locals have been asked to help identify the victim based on the clothes and other belongings found in the bag. The forensic team has also started their investigation to determine when the woman was killed and locate her body. Investigation Underway The exact details of the crime, including how and where the woman was murdered, remain unknown. The police are treating the case with urgency and are hopeful that forensic findings and public assistance will provide crucial leads.
