
Raipur 30 March 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was presented a special handmade shawl made of Kosa silk by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today at the public meeting and inauguration and foundation stone laying program of development works organized in village Mohbhattha of Bilaspur district, which is a symbol of the rich weaving tradition and tribal cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. This shawl is not only a beautiful sample of cloth, but also a living document of the art, music and tribal identity of Chhattisgarh. This shawl is completely handmade and reflects the depth of the local weaver tradition of the state. The traditional bamboo musical instrument ‘Todi’ and the famous ‘Bison Horn Madia Dance’ of Bastar have been depicted through embroidery on this shawl. The Todi instrument is an integral part of music in the tribal lifestyle of Chhattisgarh. At the same time, this dance of the Madia tribe is an expression of bravery, energy and collective unity. This shawl is not just a garment, but an expression of tribal pride, cultural diversity and craftsmanship. This Kosa Shawl presented by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai to Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an emotional and powerful effort to give national recognition to the importance of Chhattisgarh’s skilled weaver women, tribal communities, and folk traditions.
