Cabinet gives 7.96 acres of land to State Cricket Association

Decision taken to relax rules on special initiative of Chief Minister Sai

Raipur, 30 July 2025: In line with the wishes of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, a major step has been taken to promote the training and development of emerging cricket players of the state. In the cabinet meeting held at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan here today under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, it has been decided to allot 7.96 acres of land to Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association in Sector-3, Village-Parasada of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar for setting up a cricket academy. It is worth mentioning here that under the Government Disposal Rules, there is no provision for direct allotment of land to non-profit organizations, but in this particular case, the state government has taken this decision by relaxing the rules, so that a cricket academy can be established in the interest of the players.

It is worth noting that Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association has received full-time recognition from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2016. For this, the Urban Development Authority has identified a total of 7.96 acres of land. There are immense possibilities in the field of cricket in the state of Chhattisgarh. Many players of the state have shown their talent at the national level. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium is present in Nava Raipur, but the need for an academy for international level facilities and training was felt. This decision will provide excellent opportunities to the talented youth of the state to progress in cricket and the state will get special recognition at the national and international level. This step of the Chhattisgarh government will not only open new doors of opportunity for the young cricketers of the state, but will also help in giving Chhattisgarh a strong identity in the field of sports.
