Raipur 12 January 2024: On the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Bal Bachchan, who lost the vision of both eyes in a bear attack, was able to get compensation after 32 years of the incident. On Sunday, when his wife Kaushalya Sai handed over the cheque of compensation amount in the Chief Minister’s native village Bagiya, Bal Bachchan and his family became emotional. This family, which is struggling with financial crisis, has thanked Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for getting the assistance amount. Victim villager Bal Bachchan Singh, a resident of Kendpani village, dependent on Gram Panchayat Kastura of Duldula block of Jashpur district, said that on the morning of 24 September 1992, he had gone to the forest near his village. During this time, a bear sitting among the bushes attacked him. The bear took out both the eyes of Bal Bachchan. After treatment, Bal Bachchan’s life was saved but he lost the vision of both his eyes. The victim villager’s elder brother Ranthhu Singh said that after the incident, Bal Bachchan Singh’s family had come into financial crisis.
Bal Bachchan was married only 5 months ago. He was unable to work due to loss of eyesight. After the incident, the forest department officials had come to meet the victim’s family and assured them of getting the compensation amount soon. But this assurance could not be fulfilled. The victim Bol Bachchan kept visiting the officials continuously in the hope of financial assistance. But his plea was not heard anywhere. Finally, on 25 September 2024, he reached the public darshan organized in Bagiya to appeal to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. Chief Minister Shri Sai, after listening to the plight of Bal Bachchan, had directed the forest department officials to pay the compensation amount immediately. Bal Bachchan’s family has three children besides his wife. The elder son is engaged in employment. The elder daughter is studying in 12th and the younger daughter is studying in 8th class. Expressing gratitude to the CM on receiving 2 lakh compensation amount after 32 years on the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Bal Bachchan said that with the compensation amount, he will complete the education of both his daughters and after completion of studies, he will spend this amount on their marriage.
