Raipur 27 May 2025: The Chhattisgarh government led by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has taken a major decision with the aim of improving the quality of school education. The Education Department has issued an order for rationalization of a total of 10,463 schools in the state, which includes 5849 schools of E-cadre and 4614 schools of T-cadre. This order has been implemented with immediate effect. This rationalization order is in line with the instructions of the National Education Policy 2020 and the Right to Education Act 2009, the main objective of which is to ensure balanced and effective use of educational resources.

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has said that the visionary decision of the School Education Department is a strong initiative towards making school education better, inclusive and effective. Chief Minister Sai has praised the decision of the Education Department regarding rationalization of schools and said that this step is going to give a new direction to the education system of the state. He said that this decision will not only ensure better use of teachers’ resources, but will also give students an opportunity to receive quality and continuous education. The Chief Minister said that the integration of schools of different levels in the same campus is not only useful from the administrative point of view, but it will also maintain the continuity of education and get rid of the problem of student dropout. This will make the school environment more effective and will also increase the confidence of the children. He said that this step taken in line with the National Education Policy 2020 will prove to be a milestone towards making Chhattisgarh a leading state in the field of education.

School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Pardeshi informed that under the rationalization of schools, 10,297 schools operating in the same campus have been rationalized. Apart from this, 133 schools located within a radius of one kilometer in rural areas and 33 schools located within a radius of 500 meters in urban areas have also been rationalized. He said that with this initiative, deployment of surplus teachers will now be possible in teacherless and single teacher schools. This will also see a direct improvement in the quality of education. Rationalization will ensure additional availability of teachers, which will also create balance in other needy schools. This adjustment will also reduce the establishment expenditure, which will make more investment possible on educational infrastructure.

The School Education Secretary informed that continuity of studies in the same campus will reduce the dropout rate of children, and student retention rate will improve. Rationalization of schools will not require children to take admission again and again, which will make their education journey more smooth and continuous. He said that rationalization will also make it easier to create better infrastructure in school campuses, in which library, computer lab, science laboratory and sports facilities can be shared. This step of the state government is in line with the cluster school concept proposed in the National Education Policy, where education from primary to higher secondary level is ensured in an integrated campus. He said that only administrative coordination has been done in this process, no post has been abolished. This step will make equitable distribution of teachers possible and quality education will be available to children more easily. Rationalization has been done following the provisions of the ratio of students and teachers under the Right to Education Act 2009, which will play an important role in improving the level of educational quality in the state. “This initiative of the Chhattisgarh government will not only strengthen the current educational structure, but will also lay the foundation for a sustainable, strong and inclusive education system for the coming generations. The visionary decision of the School Education Department to rationalize schools is a strong initiative towards making the education system of the state better, inclusive and effective. Rationalization will not only ensure equitable distribution of educational resources, but will also provide children an opportunity to receive quality and continuous education. This is an important step towards making Chhattisgarh a leader in the field of education.”
