National Clean Air Program – Inter-departmental Meeting Deliberated On Improving Air Quality

Raipur. Under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP), a meeting was held between Raipur and Birgaon Municipal Corporations along with officials of Environment Protection Board, Traffic Transport Department, C.S.I.D.C. etc. to control air pollution and increase the level of clean air in Raipur city. In this meeting, various arrangements being made under the 15th funded ‘Clean Air Quality Improvement’ program were discussed in detail. Additional Commissioner Rajendra Gupta, Birgaon Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jugal Kishore Urvashi, Superintending Engineer Rajesh Rathore, Raipur and Birgaon Municipal Corporations engineers, Transport, Traffic, and C.S.I.D.C. officials participated in this meeting called at Gandhi Sadan, Raipur Municipal Corporation Headquarters. In this meeting, emphasis was laid on BT road construction, paving construction as well as green area development to make the roads dust free. Plants will be planted in the gardens to reduce air pollution. Apart from this, the updated progress of the plan to upgrade old crematoriums was also discussed. The arrangements being made for improving air quality in the industrial area Silatra were also informed in detail. In this regard, it was told that along with green area development, end to end paving and asphalting work will be done on the sides of the roads as per requirement.

Executive Engineer (Raipur) Anshul Sharma, Executive Engineer (Birgaon) Imran Khan, Assistant Engineer (Raipur) Shailendra Patel, Assistant Engineer (Birgaon) Krishna Vijay Singh, Deputy Engineer (Raipur) Arjita Diwan, Deputy Engineer Krishna Kumar Janghel, C.S.I.D.C.’s H.R. Verma, CPCB’s Advisor Dr. Pokhraj Sahu were present in the meeting. Experts from IIT Bhilai also participated specially in this meeting.
