Banking facilities are being spread in remote areas due to the efforts of the state government
About 14 thousand people of 12 villages will get the benefit of bank
Raipur, May 18, 2025: People of Jagargunda area of Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, who have been affected by the Naxal problem for a long time, will now also get the benefit of banking facility. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today virtually inaugurated the branch of Indian Overseas Bank in Jagargunda, Sukma from the Chief Minister’s residence. About 14 thousand villagers of 12 nearby villages will get the benefit of banking facility from this branch of the bank. Addressing the inauguration program through video conference, Chief Minister Sai said that today is a historic day for the people of this area. This area has been affected by Naxalism for a long time. In the last one and a half years, in our double engine government, we have succeeded in establishing peace in the Bastar region. This is the reason why a new branch of the bank has opened here today. It is providing benefits of schemes to the people. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai said that due to the security, development and trust strategy of the state government, continuous campaigns of security forces and the determination of the central and state governments, the villages of Bastar region are rapidly overcoming the Naxal problem and joining the mainstream of development.
Chief Minister Sai said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a guarantee to provide banking facilities in all Gram Panchayats, implementing which, on the occasion of National Panchayat Day on 24 April, 1460 Atal Panchayat Digital Seva Kendras have been started in 10-10 Gram Panchayats of each development block. Where the villagers have started getting the benefit of banking facilities. This facility will be expanded to all Gram Panchayats in a year. The Chief Minister also gave detailed information about Sushasan Tihar to the villagers. Sai said that during Sushasan Tihar, he himself has visited the Digital Seva Kendras and reviewed the arrangements. Villagers are taking advantage of banking facilities here. Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary said that when he was the Collector in Dantewada, this area was severely Naxal-affected. One had to think before going to the interior areas. In the year 2001, there was a branch of Gramin Bank in this building, which the Naxalites tried to loot. Today, a branch of Indian Overseas Bank is opening in the same building. From here, the villagers will get the amount of many schemes like Tendu Patta Bonus, Kisan Samman Nidhi in the village itself. Finance Minister Chaudhary opened his account in the bank while inspecting the cash counter and branch manager’s office in the bank premises. Along with him, Women Commission member Ms. Deepika Sori also opened her account in the bank. It is noteworthy that along with the bank, ATM facility has also been made available to the villagers. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw was virtually connected in the inauguration program. On this occasion, Chhattisgarh State Women Commission member Ms. Deepika Sori, Collector Sukma Devesh Kumar Dhruv, District Panchayat CEO Mrs. Namrata Jain and Bank’s Regional Manager Gaurishankar Nayak were present in Jagargunda.
