Raipur 10 May 2025: In the current tense situation, with the aim of peace, harmony and unity among all religions, societies and communities, a Sarvadharma Sabha was organized today in the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan under the chairmanship of Governor Ramen Deka. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Say was also present in the meeting. On this occasion, Governor Deka said in his address that the current tense situation is not only the challenge of war on the borders but it is also a test of the unity of our society, the tolerance of our culture and the awareness of our citizens. It is our responsibility to maintain restraint, peace and harmony in the society. He said that when our nation is going through conflict, not only our soldiers deployed on the borders but the consciousness, unity and resolve of every citizen of the country is the biggest strength of the nation. Deka said that for centuries India has been a country that has embraced diversity. The methods of worship may be different but the basic spirit of humanity is the same in all. Whenever the country has faced a crisis, people of every religion, every caste, every class have stood shoulder to shoulder. Whether it is the wars of 1965 and 1971 or the Kargil conflict of 1999, every time our country has proved that we cannot be divided in the name of any religion, sect or language. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhists and people of all other religions live together in the country. Chhattisgarh is also a living example of this cultural coordination.
Deka appealed to the people of Chhattisgarh to stay united and maintain peace and harmony. Now we have to think about what we can give to the country and society. We have to stand united for the country. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said in his address that India is a worshiper of truth, non-violence and peace. In today’s meeting, representatives of all religions have reiterated the pledge of unity. In this hour, we all have to show that we are united and we salute the indomitable courage of the soldiers of the country. Our army soldiers have given a befitting reply to the terrorists. He said that in the present times we need to be very cautious. In such times, anti-social elements also try to take advantage. The Chief Minister also asked the people to be cautious about the misleading information coming on social media. Representatives of various religious organizations expressed their views in the meeting and emphasized on the unity and integrity of the country. To maintain peace and harmony, they talked about respecting each other’s religion and following every instruction of the government and administration. Chandresh Shah of Jain community, Yudhishthir Maharaj of Shadani Darbar, Savita sister of Brahmakumari Shanti Sarovar, Sardar Amrik Singh of Sikh community, Feroze Gandhi of Bohra community, Diwakar Tiwari of Brahmin community, Bhante Dr. Jeevak of Buddhist community, Kishore Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Shivrupanand Ji Maharaj of Bharat Seva Sangh, Ms. Sushma Kumar of Bishop Diocese of Chhattisgarh, Dilip Panigrahi of Gayatri Parivar, Abdul Fahim of Mutawalli Jama Masjid and Ranjan Banerjee of Kalibari Bengali community expressed their views in the Sarvadharma Sabha.
Tribute was paid by observing 2 minutes of silence for the peace of the souls of the citizens who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the war. On this occasion, Principal Secretary, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Department, Sonamni Bora, Secretary to the Governor, Dr. C.R. Prasanna, Joint Secretary, Ms. Nidhi Sahu, Collector, Raipur, Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, all the officers and employees of the Raj Bhavan, along with intellectuals from various religions and communities were present.
