Union Agriculture Ministry said golden chapter of farming begins in Chhattisgarh
Raipur 27 April 2025: The Central Government has praised the cultivation of sunflower in Sakti and Kondagaon and other districts of Chhattisgarh. The Union Agriculture Ministry has said on its social media handle X that sunflower cultivation in Chhattisgarh is the beginning of a new golden chapter. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of self-reliant India, farmers like Ramayan Manyavar of Ghuichunwa village in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh are adopting alternative crops like sunflower.
Under the efforts of the Chhattisgarh government, these farmers are increasing their income by moving beyond traditional farming, reducing dependence on water and increasing crop productivity. By cultivating sunflower, which flourishes in Rabi, Kharif and summer seasons, farmers are earning maximum profits while contributing to the national goals of strengthening the rural economy. Prime Minister Modi’s call to diversify agriculture and promote indigenous methods is helping farmers move towards sustainable, high-yield farming, making India’s agriculture sector stronger and more self-reliant. Similarly, the first successful cultivation of sunflower variety KBSH-78 is being celebrated in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district. Its blooming flowers indicate new opportunities for farmers and the future of agriculture in the state.
